About
I am a maker, a doer, and an open sourcer and this is my blog. You can call me linuxchic or Christa. I will answer to both.
I am more a ranter than a writer. This place is a dumping ground for my projects, thoughts, rants, opinion, news bites and howtos sprinkled here and there. I have gotten away from all tech all the time but am still all kinds of open source. Tech can be all consuming and not in a wonderfully fluffy humanitarian way. I am evolving but I am still linuxchic because after 13 years, who else can I possibly be?
I randomly Tumbl, I occasionally Twitter, and I post pics to Flickr.
I host the technology podcast, Alternageek, I write knitting & crochet patterns, I sell awesome handmade items on my Etsy store, Upped and write about them on my product blog.
I am alternative, I am unique, and frankly, so is my blog. It’s morphed into a more rounded picture of who I am, and that means fiber arts, upcycling, cooking and baking, frugal living, family stories, and household stuff. It used to be all tech all the time but that really isn’t all that there is about me, and I am really glad it’s not. I am geeky in more than just gadgetry!
I have been been teaching public technology classes since 1996. In the 90s I organized local chapters of Linuxchix and Webgirls. I taught local continuing education courses for kids, adults, parents and seniors in a local community college until 1999. I hosted the Alternageek podcast from 2007-2008 and presented two WordPress workshops at Podcamp Midwest. If you are interested in having me host a class please visit my page for hire.
Enjoy the site. I sincerely thank you for visiting.
